DHS Network elects first-ever President and Vice President

(Nov. 10, 2006)

In voting held October 27th through November 3rd, the DHS Network students and alumni elected Clint Leysath as first-ever Network President and Thomas O'Sullivan as the Network Vice President.

Clint Leysath

I am Clint Leysath, a Ph.D. candidate in cellular and molecular biology at the University of Texas at Austin. I would like to represent you as president of the DHS Student & Alumni Network. I was a member of the first fellowship class of 2003, and now am a DHS dissertation grant recipient for 2006-2007. I am currently the Promotion/Points of Contact Team Leader for the Network, which is responsible for integrating member feedback and developing the Network concept. As president, I want to stand up the Network as a visible group for the scholars, fellows, and alumni. I plan to incorporate your input to make an inclusive group where all feel welcome;
expand the network by increasing involvement of scholars, fellows, and alumni in existing and upcoming programs and activities; and promote the DHS mission as it relates to these student programs for continued and expanding support.

Thomas O'Sullivan

As a member of the first DHS Scholar class in 2003, I have been involved in the program since its inception. I am now a second year electrical engineering PhD student and DHS Fellow at Stanford University. As vice-president, I will bring the unique experience of participating in the program and guiding its development since the beginning. I take great pride in participating in this program and I have formed many (lifelong) relationships with other participants. I believe that the DHS Student & Alumni Network is a crucial part of the DHS program as whole, keeping us all connected as we advance in our careers. This network will be valuable to us throughout our professional lives, and I am committed to establish, promote, and strengthen the Network.
