DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff visits CREATE Center at University of Southern California, Friday, July 20, 2007

DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff visited the DHS CREATE Center, based at the University of Southern California, on July 20th, applauding the Center for its achievements. Joining Chertoff was U.S. Congresswoman Jane Harman.

Chertoff specifically highlighted the Center’s assembly of faculty, scholars and researchers developing the type of “cost-benefit, risk-management approach that is needed to help prevent the kind of catastrophic attack we sustained on 9/11.”

The Secretary went on to emphasize the importance of continuing to support university research to protect the U.S. and its interests.

The Center was recently awarded an $11 million, three-year renewal of its research grant.
